  • ass-hooal - ash pit
  • kinnel (vr) - to kindle
  • ræak t'fire - to bank a turf fire with ashes to keep alight during the night.   This was done regularly every evening
  • ass - ashes, cinders
  • niggert - iron cheeks placed in a fire grate in order to save fuel
  • eldin - fuel
  • cooal - coal, charcoal
  • chats - stIcks used as fuel
  • prôker - sometimes used for a poker
  • peeat - peat; turf for fuel
  • seeat - soot
  • beetin stick - stick used for firing under a girdle plate when baking oat bread
