ASBESTOS SURVEYS AND MANAGEMENT

The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002 (CAWR) require owners, occupiers, landlords, managing agents and others responsible for maintaining non-domestic properties (or common areas of domestic rented properties) to take action to prevent employees, contractors or the public from exposure to asbestos. 'Duty holders' must determine the location and condition of identified or presumed asbestos-containing-materials; keep and regularly update a record of these materials; assess their potential risk, and prepare a plan describing how these risks are to be managed.
